About this Video

One of the most popular birthstones on our website is Blue Zircon, which is December's true birthstone. But the name always leads people to a specific question about it being natural. Why? Many people believe Blue Zircon, because of the name, is the same thing as Cubic Zirconia. In the video below, Steve talks about the difference between Cubic Zirconia and the natural Blue Zircon birthstone of December.

Recap

In the video Steve shows you what Cubic Zirconia (a common Diamond imitation stone) looks like. It's also called Ziconium Oxide. They are actually produced in a lab and then cut afterwards. He also shows what natural Zircon looks like. They come in all colors, including blue, but also including white, which can look a lot like Diamonds. The Blue Zircon comes from Cambodia while the other colors such as peach come from Tanzania. These are all mined stones. Found in a mine and cut at Steve's store in Crown Point, Indiana. But like Diamond, the amazing thing about our Zircons are that they have the brilliance of Diamonds due to their refractive index, but without the high cost. But the big thing he wanted you to remember from this video is that Cubic Zirconia is a man-made stone (which we do not sell here) and Blue Zircon is a totally natural gemstone that comes from mines in Tanzania and Cambodia.
